In collaboration with the Our Favourite Place scheme organized by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore, I did my very first (legal) yarnbomb on a bicycle and four pebble seats in front of the National Gallery of Singapore for the Car-free Sunday event on 26th June. With my installation themed 'AlienPinkvasion', I wanted to bring my 'aliens' to life by having them take over the city!
While yarnbombing is considered a kind of graffiti, it is far from the typical imagery people have of that- spray paint! Thus, I decided to create my own pink 'alien paint' to be 'splashed' onto these objects, looking like liquid but completely removable. Just like all yarnbombs, the aim is to change the ordinary into something extraordinary, turning people heads to what they might walk pass without a second look on usual days- much like an alien invading the mind!
